St. Patrick’s day is a biggest money making event to bars during a year, which can be compared to Black Friday to retail stores. Can you imagine if stores were told they need to close on Black Friday?

But some might say, but Coronavirus is so dangerous. It is only if you are in a certain age. If you are under the age of 50, the fatality is no higher than from standard flu.

Governor did a double whammy to all of industry in California. He did announce that everyone over the age of 65 to self-isolate at home. So that should have been enough to protect most vulnerable population. But to order to close all bars and wineries is not only unnecessary, but also an economic disaster to many small, privately owned, bars and their employees.

Ordering from online stores is reaching new highs in America, and this trend is only heading higher and higher. All those orders are being delivered during hours when there is nobody home, and the driver has no choice but to leave the delivery  by the door. This is creating new epidemic of thieves, “porch pirates”, taking advantage of the easy pickings of deliveries just sitting there waiting to be taken.

Unfortunately, unless someone is home during delivery, there is not much that can be done to stop the thieves. If we can’t prevent the thieves, we can get even with them. Here is a brilliant idea on how to get even with the thieves.

1. Once you receive a delivery, remove contents and keep the box. Remove any label from the box that has your name on it, so the  thieves will not have a record of who is pranking them.
2. Fill empty Amazon delivery box with your stinky kitchen garbage, kitty litter, dirty diapers, or be creative .
3. Set the box in front of your door when you leave in the morning, and let the fun begin.
4. When you return from work and box is gone, you know the thieves took the bate.

This will allow you to not only prank the thieves, it will make thieves provide you with free garbage removal service.

Be very careful of “cherry picked” data, it can always be manipulated to support someone’s opinion. Chart above says 38.52% personal tax rate, but that does not include additional Social Security tax rate of 22.3% (total of 60.82%). Also Norway has one of the highest VAT (Sales Tax) rate of 25% (compare that to California 9%). And it only works in Norway because they have homogeneous population that share common vision, so things can get agreed on and done. Unlike in San Francisco, city spends over $250 Million a year for homeless (Plus additional $20 million in federal funding). All that for estimated homeless population in San Francisco of 7000. Even with all that money, nothing substantial gets done because they have constant arguments on how to spend the money. What was the latest idea? City funded Safe drug injection sites? What’s next, City funded Safe sex sites?

Other things that are wrong with the table above:

* GDP of $75,500 vs. $59,500 per person

It can’t be compared since Norway has huge oil and natural gas production and supplies 25% of entire Europe natural gas needs. And Norway only has population of 5 million. So yes, with big production and low population, GDP will look big per person. Just imagine how big USA economy really is in order to have GDP of $59,500 per person with population of 325 million.

* No security for seniors

This is not true, government does provide Social Security benefits and Medicare. It might not be great benefits, but statement that “no security” is plain wrong. In addition to Social security, many people also have 401K/ pensions from their work.

* No paid parental leave

This statement depends on the state you live in. For an example, California does provide 6 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of paternity leave.
